Road Safety – Traffic Collisions and Driving to Conditions

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

There have been a number of road traffic collisions reported last month in the local area, and we are asking all road users to take extra care and ensure they are driving in a safe and responsible manner. Speed enforcement operations are being conducted in the area, targeting locations where concerns have been raised regarding speeding and inappropriate driving.

Please remember to:

- Reduce your speed when conditions are poor, including during heavy rain, fog, ice or poor visibility.
- Allow additional time and stopping distance when roads are wet or slippery.
- Remain alert and avoid distractions, particularly mobile phone use.
- Take extra care around junctions, pedestrian crossings and busy residential areas.
- Be considerate of other road users, including cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians.
- Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and that lights, tyres and brakes are in good condition.

We would also ask drivers to remain aware of CCTV cameras operating within the area. Please ensure that any CCTV or other security systems you operate are maintained and functioning correctly, as recorded footage can be extremely valuable in helping to establish what has happened following a road traffic collision or other incident.
